Along with his New Media team, Mike has worked up an impressive client and awards list.

In the realm of campaign politics, Mike Connell was best known for providing Internet strategy to the Bush-Cheney campaign, designing the award-winning www.georgewbush.com website in 2000, and again in 2004. He was proud to have served many of this nation’s top statewide Republican races throughout years. Most noteworthy is the fact that every one of Connell’s 2004 General Election candidates was victorious!

He has also coordinated numerous online public affairs campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and beyond, including AT&T, BASF, Charles Schwab, Delta Airlines, EDS, Hill & Knowlton, Nortel and Microsoft, to name a few. Internationally, he emerged as a leader in the field of political website development and was engaged in international projects with USAID, International Foundation for Election Systems, International Republican Institute, International Democratic Union, and Freedom House. Connell spoke and trained regularly, in countries including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Sweden.

Numerous organizations and publications recognized Mike for his achievements. Named one of “25 Internet Pioneers Changing the World of Politics” by Harvard’s Institute of Politics, he has also been profiled by Interactive Week as an “Internet Pioneer.” He has been the subject of articles in The New York Times, Crain’s Cleveland Business, Inside Business and Microcomputer Solutions and has been named by Campaigns & Elections as a “Political Rising Star.” In 2003, Connell was elected to the board of the American Association of Political Consultants. He also served on the board of the International Association of Political Consultants.

While Connell thrived on the achievements of his hard work both nationally and internationally, he was especially proud of his work in establishing, along with his family, an annual mission trip within his parish called “Serving Christ Through His Poor.”

Mike Connell had a talent when it came to fusing politics and technology as evident by the many awards he acquired over the years. But it was evident that his calling was fusing faith with action to help the lives of others.

It was those services and acts of kindness that he was most proud of in life, and it is those things that we remember most in his passing.
